I worked for Drake's from 1987 to 1994 and used to purchase ties, scarves and other accessories as gifts for my parents, either in our warehouse in the city or in our sample sales in Bond Street.  

My father was extremely meticulous with his clothes and I have several of the luxurious Drake's silk neckerchieves/pocket squares, ties, scarves, squares and even a shirt to offer from those times, all of which are in excellent condition.  He wore these things a few times in all those years but not that often.  And when they weren't worn they were in their original plastic bags in his wardrobe.  

My father passed away earlier this year - these things really need to be worn, the silk gets softer the more it is in use, one of the key characteristics of Drake's fine quality silks, and it would be shame for them to be in a drawer or a wardrobe unseen and unused.  The colours are still spectacular after all this time and they are fine items for the discerning gentleman, the way that Michael Drake wanted them to be when he designed them. 

Made from the finest raw silks, hand printed in Crayford by David Evans & Co. and hand rolled. Designs either by Michael Drake or Michael Drake and Stephen Linard depending on the time the item was made.

It was a privilege working for Drakes and seeing at first hand the hard work, meticulous designs, fabulous materials and outstanding craftsmanship that went into each and every piece produced.  These vintage Drake's pieces are just gorgeous, the absolute pinnacle of luxury.
