🖼️ Antique Oval Child Portrait Photograph in Large Vintage Wood & Gilt-Tone Frame – 16.5" x 13.5"

Beautifully aged antique/vintage oval portrait of a young child, presented in a substantial, warm bronze/gold-tone wood frame.

This is an especially charming—and slightly haunting!—old portrait with wonderful period character. The young child is dressed in a delicate, light-colored dress and is posed facing forward with an expression that is wonderfully serious and distinctly characteristic of early portrait photography.

The portrait has a lovely soft, muted sepia/monochromatic appearance and is protected behind glass in a substantial oval frame with multiple molded decorative borders and a warm gilt/bronze finish.

The back retains old original-style framing materials, cardboard backing, numerous small framing points, and an old wire hanging system. The perimeter also shows remnants of old paper sealing/material consistent with previous professional framing or conservation work.

I am not able to positively identify the photographer, studio, or exact photographic process, so I am not representing this as a specific dated photographic process or attributing it to a particular photographer.

Based on the portrait style, materials, framing, and overall appearance, I believe this is an older vintage/antique portrait, potentially dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.

This is an antique/vintage piece and is being sold AS FOUND.

The portrait displays age-related fading, discoloration, surface toning and visible moisture/water staining, particularly across the lower portion of the image/dress. There are also areas of haze/uneven coloration visible in the photograph.

The frame has finish wear, small scratches/scuffs, edge wear and areas of age-related loss, all consistent with its age and visible in the photographs.

The backing is old and shows considerable age-related wear, including deterioration around portions of the perimeter.

The portrait has NOT been professionally restored, cleaned, retouched or altered by me.

I have intentionally left the original/older framing assembly intact rather than disturbing the photograph or backing.

Glass is intact.
