Ensign Mascot A2 falling plate detective camera c.1910. This is a quarter plate camera with the plates approximately 3.5 x 4.5 inches. Plates are loaded through the rear door and the drop mechanism is operated by a lever on the top of the camera. Includes 6 plate holders, stored flat inside for transport.
In ok condition for age, some tarnishing of metal areas, leatherette is ok , a few areas of wear and loss. Shutter works but clunky, plate drop mechanism works. Both bright viewers cloudy, possibly some fungi though the top viewer has a degree of vision, see photo.
Carrying strap ok but needs a leather feed.
Quite a nice, uncommon model number in the Ensign Mascot box camera range.
