What This Part Does

This Vaillant coding resistor, also known as a code plug, is read by the Vaillant control electronics when the system powers up.

When fitted to a compatible system, it allows the heat pump controls to recognise that the cooling function is authorised and available for installer-level configuration.

Without the correct coding plug fitted, the cooling option may remain hidden or unavailable in the installer menu. With the correct part fitted, a competent installer can configure the cooling function, flow temperatures, protection settings, and control behaviour.

Important — Cooling Needs Correct System Design

This part enables the cooling function in the controls. It does not, by itself, turn a heating-only system into a complete air-conditioning system.

Standard radiators are normally designed for heating. Running cold water through unsuitable emitters can cause condensation. Effective cooling normally requires suitable emitters, correct controls, condensate management, and dew-point protection.
