JOHN LEE HOOKER – TRAVELIN’

Vee-Jay Records – LP 1023 / VJLP 1023
Original 1960 U.S. Mono White Label Promotional Pressing
Disc Jockey Advance Sample

Offered here is a scarce original U.S. promotional pressing of John Lee Hooker’s classic 1960 Vee-Jay LP Travelin’.

This is not the standard commercial issue. The record has the distinctive white Vee-Jay promotional labels, each clearly marked:

DISC JOCKEY
ADVANCE SAMPLE

The original jacket is also stamped on the back:

AUDITION COPY
NOT FOR SALE

Together, these markings identify this as an original promotional copy distributed for advance radio and industry use.

CONDITION

VINYL: NEAR MINT (NM)

The record is exceptionally clean and retains beautiful original gloss. There are no significant visible scratches, scuffs or other signs of wear.

Both white promotional labels remain clean and attractive, with the Vee-Jay logo, catalog number and advance-sample designation clearly visible.

A remarkably well-preserved example of this early John Lee Hooker promo.

COVER: VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)

The original Vee-Jay jacket presents extremely well for a 1960 release.

The front retains strong color and artwork with relatively little distracting wear. The back shows normal age-related toning along with light edge/corner and storage wear.

The original “AUDITION COPY NOT FOR SALE” promotional stamp remains clearly visible on the back cover.

The jacket is structurally sound and displays very nicely overall. All wear is shown in the photographs and reflected in the conservative VG+ grade.

The photographs show the actual record and cover being sold.
