This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 5½ x 3½ inches (140x90mm).

It shows a sailing barge with dark sails navigating a wide river or estuary. A small dinghy is towed behind the vessel on a line. Two figures are visible on the deck near the stern of the boat. Low-lying land stretches across the horizon in the background.

The reverse has a purple stamp reading 'Copyright T. Rayner, 41 Castle Street, Ryde, I.W.' There is also printed text 'Neg. No.' followed by the handwritten name 'Lady Maud' in pencil.
