PLEASE NOTE I AM UNABLE TO FIND A WMF MARKING ON THIS CHARMING PIECE. The only marking was the "154" on the bottom. I did find one identical in design to this one on "Invaluable" and it was stated to be WMF, and I found others on eBay very similar which were characterized as WMF, including some which had the WMF marking. This one appears to be missing the inkwell itself which others have, and this could be where the marking would be. Also, I am unsure of the metal here. The one on Invaluable described it as "silver-plated Pewter" and a similar one of a woman sitting here on eBay described the metal as, "Britannia Metal". Also the woman one on eBay dated the piece to "1890s". It measures about 10.5" by 3.5" on the left thin side and about 5.2" where the man is sitting, about 4" high and weighs about 1 lb 1 oz.
A VERY ATTRACTIVE INKWELL which could be made functional with the addition of an inkwell.
