Custom-built travel / dorm WiFi router based on a Netgear R6120 AC1200.

What’s unique about this unit
This is not a stock Netgear box. It has been flashed with a custom OpenWrt image that already includes drivers for a COMFAST MT7612U USB WiFi dongle. The dongle is mounted on top (command-strip mount) and shows up in OpenWrt as a third radio. That extra radio is the point of the build: one radio can join a hotel, dorm, RV Camp or apartment network while the other radios serve your own private WiFi.

Router input power requires 12v making it easy to RVs, vans and autos.

Firmware
OpenWrt 25.12.5 (LuCI web interface). Custom image preloads the USB WiFi drivers so the third radio is recognized at first boot. Unit has been fully tested.

Intended use
Dorm rooms, hotels, Airbnbs, travel, or any place you need your own WiFi behind someone else’s network. Compact, cheap to run, and more flexible than a stock consumer router.

Condition: Good / used. Router has normal cosmetic wear on the glossy top (scuffs and marks). Dongle is new and mounted with a command strip as shown. Fully functional. Comes with original box, foam tray, and power adapter.
