This is for LIONEL 45 ILLUMINATED OPERATING AUTOMATIC GATEMAN, TESTED & WORKS. Made in 1945 and similar to the 45, 145 & 6-2145. This item still works and even the light lights-up. It operates such that when the train passes by, the gateman rushes from the shed as the train approaches. He then flags the train with his waving arm and the attached lantern (illuminated from the light in the shanty); and when the train passes he goes back into his house. Very nice animated Train Accessory Piece. It is in GREAT condition for its old age, but not perfect as it does show some light signs of prior loving use, which might polish out.
