The Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9 is a compact full-frame ultra-wide cine prime lens designed for Sony E-mount cameras. Combining a dramatic 106° diagonal field of view with a fast T1.9 aperture, it is an excellent choice for cinematic landscapes, architecture, interiors, documentaries, establishing shots, handheld filming and gimbal work.
Inspired by classic rangefinder optics and developed with DZOFILM cinema expertise, the Simera-C series combines modern high-resolution performance with a natural, character-rich rendering. The lens produces neutral color, controlled contrast and smooth flare behavior while retaining a subtle vintage-inspired cinematic feel.
The advanced floating optical design uses 15 elements in 11 groups, including aspherical, low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements. It maintains strong sharpness and contrast from the center to the edges, even when shooting wide open.
Chromatic aberration, flare, ghosting and distortion are carefully controlled for clean, high-resolution imaging. The lens is designed for modern high-resolution cinema cameras and 8K production workflows while preserving an organic, non-clinical image character.
A 16-blade iris produces rounded out-of-focus highlights and smooth background transitions. High-precision aspherical elements help reduce visible onion-ring patterns in bokeh, creating natural subject separation and a refined cinematic look.
The T1.9 maximum aperture provides strong low-light capability and supports cinematic depth control. Its 43.2mm image circle covers full-frame sensors, while the 16mm focal length delivers an immersive ultra-wide perspective with exceptionally low distortion.
A minimum focusing distance of just 0.16m / 6.3in allows dramatic close-up compositions with exaggerated foreground depth.
Both the focus and iris rings feature standard 0.8 MOD cinema gears for compatibility with common follow-focus systems, wireless focus motors and professional cine accessories.
The 210° focus rotation provides precise control for controlled focus pulls and shallow-depth-of-field work. Consistent gear positioning across the Simera-C series also reduces accessory readjustment when changing lenses.

This is a native Sony E-mount, fully manual cinema lens. It has no autofocus, electronic communication or optical image stabilization.
It covers full-frame Sony E-mount cameras and may also be used on compatible APS-C/Super 35 E-mount cameras with the corresponding crop factor.
