Le Tarot Égyptien d’Esméralda – Thierry Biancamaria – 1999 OOP French Tarot

Le Tarot Égyptien d’Esméralda is a French tarot deck conceived by psychic reader Esméralda and illustrated by Thierry Biancamaria. Published in France by DG Accessoires in 1999, this distinctive Egyptian-themed tarot is now out of print.

Biancamaria created the artwork using oil painting with incorporated collage elements. Rather than imitating the flat, profile-based figures commonly associated with Egyptian revival decks, his images have a sculptural, three-dimensional appearance. The figures, monuments, ritual objects, and sacred animals often appear to have been carved from stone, marble, bronze, or gold.

The deck contains the complete 78-card tarot:

The Major Arcana feature elaborate Egyptian-inspired figures, architecture, ceremonial objects, and mythological imagery. The Minor Arcana use emblematic arrangements rather than fully illustrated Rider-Waite-Smith scenes.

The cards measure approximately 2.6 x 5.4 inches and were originally housed in a black front-flap box with gold lettering. Original sets may include two supplementary cards and a French explanatory booklet; please review the photographs for the exact contents included with this example.

A scarce late-20th-century French tarot combining Egyptian revival symbolism with fantasy illustration and an unusual sculptural visual style.

Please examine all photographs carefully for the precise contents and condition of the set.
