UNUSUAL ORNATE HINGED / FOLDING BARREL KEY – APPROX. 2"

Really neat and unusual key from a collection of vintage and antique keys. This example immediately stood out because of its heavy construction, unusual hinged mechanism, and decorative oval bow.

The oval top/bow features a dark, raised decorative inset with an intricate botanical/foliate-style design. The upper portion is hinged and moves freely, allowing the bow section to fold/move relative to the barrel.

The key has a substantial, heavy feel compared with the lightweight stamped keys commonly found in old key collections.

I have intentionally not assigned a specific age, maker, country of origin, or original lock because I could not document those details. The unusual construction and decorative design are clearly the primary appeal of this piece.

This would make an excellent addition to an antique key collection, architectural hardware collection, steampunk display, historical/lock collecting display, or unusual vintage hardware collection.

CONDITION:

Pre-owned/older condition with age-appropriate patina, discoloration, surface marks and signs of use/storage. The hinged section moves freely. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photos are considered part of the description.
