This is a beautiful hand decorated small pitcher made from earthenware.  It is made by Wedgwood and the style is called Jasperware, the color is a dark cobalt blue or Wedgwood Blue. There is another color that is very close, called Portland Blue, but I am not sure that is this color. It is called a Medium Trojan Jug. There is a cleverly designed metal lid that is weighted so it will swing open and stay open.  It is a little over 5 3/8 inches tall and about 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the top. The images on the vase are just beautiful: grape vine and leaves, ladies holding birds, statuary etc. According to a replacement website, this was discontinued in 1929. Very delicate and in great pre-owned condition.
