This outstanding 1893 industrial advertising cover showcases a magnificent multi-story architectural engraving celebrating the booming petroleum and manufacturing trade of Gilded Age Pennsylvania. Originating from Pittsburgh, the envelope carried commercial correspondence from Jas. Dalzell & Son Co., promoting "Dalzell's Oils, Greases, Cotton Waste" from their prominent headquarters at 69–70 Water Street and 82–84 First Avenue. The intricately rendered storefront engraving details specific commercial products across each floor window, including Miners' Oil, Fish Oils, Railroad Oils, Sperm Oils, Lard Oils, Engine Oils, Machinery Oil, and Signal Oils.

Addressed in elegant period script to the Bangor Pulp & Paper Company in Bangor, Maine, the design is printed on a 2¢ green Grant embossed postal stationery entire (Scott #U311). The stamped indicium is neatly canceled by a Pittsburgh machine datestamp dated January 4, 1893. Turning to the reverse reveals a clear, centered Bangor, Maine receiving circular datestamp struck two days later on January 6 at 7 PM. Aside from light, honest surface toning, the cover remains clean, sound, and exceptionally well-struck, making it a premier crossover piece for collectors of early oil and petroleum history, industrial building engravings, and late 19th-century postal stationery.
