Margarete Petersen Tarot 2014 AGM Urania English Edition OOP

The Margarete Petersen Tarot is a complete 78-card tarot deck created by German artist Margarete Petersen and published by Königsfurt-Urania in 2014. This is the earlier English-language edition, issued before the later 20th Anniversary version.

Petersen developed the deck over approximately 21 years, producing a highly personal body of artwork that moves beyond conventional Rider-Waite imagery. The cards combine abstract painting, human figures, elemental forms, archetypal symbolism, and expressive layers of color. Rather than presenting fixed narrative scenes, the imagery was designed to encourage intuitive interpretation and personal reflection.

The traditional suits are reimagined as Flames, Cups, Feathers, and Coins. The court cards are also renamed Mother, Father, Daughter, and Son, giving the deck its own distinct symbolic structure. Although unconventional, it remains a complete tarot system containing 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana.

This 2014 edition contains 78 large-format cards measuring approximately 3.75 x 5.5 inches and an English instruction booklet. ISBN 9783898756297.

The 2014 English edition has become increasingly difficult to locate since being superseded by the later anniversary printing. A strong choice for collectors of visionary art tarot, German tarot editions, abstract tarot, and unusual out-of-print decks.
