You are bidding on a very fine and rare antique 4/4 violin, labeled Gio Bapt Grancino in Contrada Largha di Milano anno 1705. The violin is in good condition, professionally restored in our workshop, repaired cracks on top, grafted scroll, bushed peg-holes, good ebony set up, new bridge and Dominnat strings.
The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The whole length of the violin is 585 mm and the back 355 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 199 mm. Full size. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. We set a low starting price that covers only the restoration work.
