Tarocchi di Romagna by Luigi E. Mattei 1984 Dal Negro Limited Edition

Tarocchi di Romagna is a limited Italian art tarot created by Luigi E. Mattei and manufactured by Dal Negro of Treviso in 1984. Published for the Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna, the deck interprets the Major Arcana through the history, traditions, folklore, and everyday life of Italy’s Romagna region.

The deck comprises 22 oversized Major Arcana cards measuring approximately 91 × 167 mm. Its artwork combines familiar tarot archetypes with regional figures, costumes, architecture, customs, and cultural references, making it both a working Major Arcana deck and a visual tribute to Romagna.

Originally issued as a numbered edition of 3,000 copies, the set was accompanied by an Italian booklet titled Gli Arcani Maggiori nella Storia, Tradizione, Vita della Romagna. Some surviving examples may also be signed or numbered; please consult the photographs for the exact limitation number and contents of this copy.

A scarce regional Italian tarot from the 1980s and an interesting addition to collections focused on Dal Negro, Italian art decks, or culturally themed tarot.
