Large French Antique Gilt Bronze Ormolu Mantle Clock With Period Figures

Very decorative and early French gilt bronze (Ormolu) mantle clock with a silk suspension 8 day movement with countwheel escapement. It is signed 'Pons' and possibly a date '1827'??

The movement is ticking away but is  sold as not working and is very dirty and would certainly benefit from a clean and service. It has its winding key, pendulum and bell which rings well. It is striking away nicely too, when the hands are manually rotated.

The case has the figure of a mother on top along with a girl and boy, all beautifully detailed. This large clock measures 17.5in tall x 12.75in wide. The dial is silvered with what looks like its been engine turned, a sure sign of quality. Case and dial also needs a good clean, but should do so well.

This is a delightful 19th century French gilt bronze clock ideal for restoration. Please view the photos carefully as is part of the overall description. A great quality and early gilt bronze clock that is very decorative and sold as seen for parts/restoration only. A nice project opportunity for an experienced restorer and priced low accordingly accordingly for a quick sale.
