The Guyatone HG-56B is a Japanese-made lap steel guitar (a 6-string electric steel guitar played while resting flat on the player's lap) from the 1960s.

It is equipped with a single-coil pickup (a design featuring a magnet and a single coil that produces a well-defined, contoured sound) and allows for tone adjustment via two knobs: volume and tone.

Instead of pressing down on frets, the player slides a steel bar (a metal rod) along the strings, enabling smooth, continuous pitch transitions.

With a short scale length (the vibrating length of the strings) of approximately 520mm, it is suitable for slide playing styles—such as Hawaiian, country, and blues—using C6-based open tunings.

This instrument is ideal for those seeking a vintage Japanese electric instrument or anyone wanting to enjoy the experience of playing a lap steel guitar.
