The Lebanese Tarot by Caroline Mehlinger-Jawlakh 2007 Limited Edition 17/100

The Lebanese Tarot is a scarce 22-card Major Arcana deck created by internationally exhibited Lebanese artist Caroline Mehlinger-Jawlakh. Published in Scotland by Adam McLean in 2007, it was released as No. 16 in his respected Artwork of Modern Tarot series.

Mehlinger-Jawlakh created the deck to preserve and celebrate the history, folklore, landscapes, and cultural identity of Lebanon. Traditional tarot archetypes are reinterpreted through detailed paintings incorporating Lebanese clothing, architecture, natural scenery, and historic locations, including Beirut, Baalbek, Tyre, and the celebrated Cedars of Lebanon.

The artwork is rendered in a luminous, realistic painting style, with warm Mediterranean and desert tones. Rather than simply placing familiar tarot figures in a different setting, Mehlinger-Jawlakh uses the Major Arcana to present Lebanon as a place of cultural diversity, beauty, history, and continuity.

Only 100 copies were produced. Each deck was individually numbered and signed by the artist, and the edition has long been completely sold out. This is copy 17 of 100, an especially low-numbered example.

The deck contains the complete 22 Major Arcana cards with English titles and was issued in a fitted lidded presentation box. Cards measure approximately 4.8 x 2.75 inches. No Minor Arcana or guidebook was issued with the deck.

A significant and difficult-to-find Adam McLean art tarot, particularly desirable for collectors of limited-edition decks, Lebanese art, culturally themed tarot, and the Artwork of Modern Tarot series.
