The Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB is an M.2 2280 NVMe internal solid-state drive (SSD) designed for high-performance computing, gaming, and content creation.  It features a hybrid interface supporting PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 and PCIe Gen 5.0 x2, delivering sequential read speeds up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,300 MB/s. 
The drive operates using Samsung’s proprietary Piccolo controller and 236-layer V-NAND TLC flash memory.  It is a DRAM-less design that utilizes Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology to leverage system RAM for data mapping, ensuring efficient performance without the cost and power consumption of dedicated DRAM.
