Beautiful antique basalt glass perfume bottle attributed to renowned glassmaker Josef Riedel.

Riedel's glassworks in Poluan Bohemia produced this matte black glass from 1880 to 1890 at the height of Japonisme and late 19th century art glass movement.  The bottle is hand blown and shaped.  It is accented with gold trim and hand painted enamel florals.  Examples of this glass are hard to find and are in museums around the world.  There is no accompanying stopper included with this piece, however it would make a lovely bud vase, or just used for display.  The bottle is marked "01" on the base.

Condition notes:

This piece is in exceptionally good condition for its age.  There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.  There is hardly any wear to the matte black finish and the florals are beautiful and not worn.  There is some wear to the gold trim on the mouth of the bottle, and some fine scratching and sticker residue on the base.
