Vintage hand-blown studio art glass bud vase signed Michael Taylor ’73.

This sculptural vase features layered cobalt blue and golden-amber tones suspended in clear glass with visible internal bubbles and flowing organic color transitions characteristic of early American studio glass. Its compact ovoid form, gently flared rim, and thick glass walls reflect the experimental techniques that defined studio glass during the early 1970s.

The polished base is hand-inscribed "Michael Taylor '73."

This vase was collected by the seller's mother while studying at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina during the early 1970s. It is believed to date from that same period. Michael Taylor's documented early career included study and work at Penland during this era, making the provenance and 1973 date consistent with his known biography.

Michael Taylor is recognized as an early participant in the American Studio Glass Movement. His work is represented in major museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass.

Condition is good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed.
