This magazine is acknowledged as being one of the first successful American magazines, running from 1787 to 1792.   It appears to be extracted from a bound collection --- common for the period.    The magazine was printed in Philadelphia by Mathew Carey.   The last page numbered is 108 and is the last page.  So this is the full edition.       

What I find exciting about this magazine is the list of subscribers.  The names included here are some pretty big heavyweights of early America: 

George Washington 

Alexander  Hamilton 

Benjamin Franklin 

Aaron Burr 

John Jay 

Albert Gallatin 

The content pages list some of the issues covered:  

Negroes -- featuring an account of a negro doctor. 

Revolutionary history with letters regarding the battle of Lexington and Concord. 

Native American Studies --- particulars relative to the nature and customs of the Indians of North America.

A Jeremy Belknap story, "The Foresters," a allegory written about the history and tensions of the American colonies using fictional characters. 

Thomas Jefferson's "Notes of the State of Virginia."  A printing of his work on the geography of the Potomac River as it flows through the Blue Ridge mountains. 

Dr. Samuel Latham Mitchill's story about his experiments on evaporation and it's relationship with soil and agriculture.  

And lots more cool stuff including columns on the national government to be elected under the new Constitution, some crime stories, and updates on global shipping.  

Overall it is a wonderful look at the formation of the new country in the post-war 18th century.   

This piece will be sleeved in plastic and shipped fully insured via USPS Priority in a stiff cardboard envelope to protect it from damage.  

I have a large inventory of vintage paper:     Some of it is in perfect shape and some is in rough condition.  Things to look out for in the photos are page yellowing, corner bumping, rips and tears, handwriting, etc. --- normal flaws in old paper.

3. Carefully examine my studio-quality photographs.  I do my best to document any flaws or issues. I tend to go overboard in showing flaws.  I hate surprises when I buy on eBay as much as you do.     I also do my best to accurately describe the items I find.  

4.  I basically sell "As Is."    That said, I will accept returns if I have been negligent in my listing information.  This includes outright mistakes, misrepresentations,  or any errors on my part. I do not know everything about everything (don't tell my kids that please).  If you are not sure about something and want to "try it out" at home before having "Buyer's remorse," please do not bid.   Every auction or estate sale I go to is "as is." I do better than that with my return policy.    I mess up once in a while and I have honored all legitimate returns.  Please respect this policy.
