Up for auction is a vintage linen-era postcard featuring the first lap entering the North Turn at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Indianapolis 500. The colorful scene captures the field of classic open-wheel race cars following the official pace car as they enter Turn 3 on the opening lap.

The front is titled “First Lap Coming Into North Turn at the Indianapolis Speedway, Indianapolis, Indiana” and includes photo credit to F. M. Kirkpatrick. The reverse is unused, published by Standard Sales Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, and printed by Tichnor Bros., Boston, Massachusetts, well-known for producing high-quality linen postcards during the 1930s and 1940s.

Condition:

Very nice vintage condition overall. Unused with clean front and back. Light age-related wear, minor corner wear, and a small nick along the upper right edge. Pencil price notation (“12-”) on the reverse. Please review all photos carefully for the best representation of the condition.
