Up for auction is a vintage 1931 posted postcard featuring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway just before the start of the Indianapolis 500. The front is titled “View of the Speedway Just Before the Start, Indianapolis, Ind.” and showcases the iconic original Pagoda, grandstands, drivers, race officials, and spectators assembled before the race.
The reverse bears a May 14, 1931 Indianapolis, Indiana postmark along with a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp and is addressed to Chicago. Published by DeWolf News Co., Indianapolis, Indiana, this postcard is a fantastic piece of early Indianapolis 500 and motorsports history. DeWolf issued numerous Speedway postcards during the early automobile racing era.

Condition:
Good vintage condition overall with age-related wear. There is corner and edge wear, light soiling, a small crease/tear along the top edge, and a noticeable crease near the lower right corner on the front. The postcard has been written on and mailed. Please review all photos carefully for the best representation of the condition.
