For Sale I have a, Vintage Record Marples M373/S5 Splitproof Handle 5-piece Bevel Edge Chisel Set. In Vinyl / Plastic Wallet.
Made In Sheffield England.

The Vintage Marples Chisel set is another duplicate tool of many I don't need to keep for myself, as I already own enough chisels for what I need!.
The Set has come out of a box of various woodworking tools, chisels and old tools, that were given to me by my uncle a while back.

The Record Marples Chisel set, are in very very good & nice overall condition only having had what appears to be light/moderate use to them for the age of the chisels.
Looking over them also, they all appear to still have their original factory ground main bevel angle to the edge on them , with only a micro bevel at the very tip added before they were first used.

The sizes of the 5 chisels in the set are:
▪️1/4" (6mm)
▪️3/8" (10mm)
▪️1/2” (13mm)
▪️3/4" (19mm)
▪️1" (25mm)


There is some marks to the striking point on top of the handle from a mallet or hammer on the 1/2", 3/4" & 1" chisel as shown in pics.
The blue plastic edge tip covers on the 3/4” is split cracked as shown and the one on the 3/8" is spliting at the back..
Other than that there is just some generally light surface marks and some light tarnishing to the steel with age from use and long term storage as to be expected. (see photos and video) The wallet has some light wear at the flap and at the bottom. With some yellow and red staining, mostly from off the handles of the chisels with age, and from storage..(see pics)


Any light marks etc as described above are only mearly superficial cosmetic marks as would be expected to be found given that they are a set of vintage chisels from there age, use and from storage over the years, and as such would have no effect on the items use or function.

Please have a good look at photos and zoom in, to judge the overall condition a little more. As the detailed photos help to form a large part of the items description and condition.
