1908-S USA-Philippine Silver Peso NGC Genuine Manila Bay Salvage - WWII

Up for your consideration is a very nice example of a 1908-S One Peso Silver Coin from the United States of America's administration of the Philippines leading up to WWII. In early 1942, as Japanese forces advanced on Manila, American (General MacArthur) and Filipino authorities deliberately sank millions of silver pesos (approx. 15 to 17 million coins) into Manila Bay and Caballo Bay during WWII to keep the treasury out of enemy hands. The Japanese salvaged some of the Pesos during their occupation of the Philippines and the remaining Pesos were salvaged years later. There will be free shipping on this item. Good Luck!
