I have created this chamfered pressing board to press spine ticks out of comic books. The board is 3D printed and has two chamfered edges, one of which has a small insert to accommodate staples.

I use these boards with a regular tack iron and find the chamfer gives a good result. My own method is to lay a sheet of paper over the plastic as padding between the comic and the board, and use silicone release paper on the front cover. See video.

Please read before purchase

• This is a tool for experienced pressers. It assumes you already know how to press comics safely. Practise on comics of little or no value before going near anything you care about.
• As these are 3D printed, the surface is not as smooth as glass. I haven't found this to be a problem in use, particularly with an inner paper sleeve, but it is worth knowing.
• This is plastic and it will melt under sustained heat. In normal pressing the heat exposure is short and I have had no issues. If an iron is left in one spot for a prolonged period the board will deform — and at that point the comic will almost certainly have been damaged by the heat already.
• Iron temperature, dwell time, moisture and technique are entirely the user's choice and responsibility. Do not leave a hot iron unattended on the board.
• Small cosmetic defects are normal on 3D printed items.
