A very fine antique 4/4 violin, labeled David Tecchler liutaro fecit Romae anno 1712. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears, but no cracks, good ebony set up, master made bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 587 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 197 mm.
