LNER Pocket Watch
London & North Eastern Railway
L.N.E.R 4374 on case back
Selex 15 Jewels Swiss Movement.
DF&C is on the movement. This stands for Dimier Freres & Cie.
Although originally watchmakers, by the late 19th Century they became importers/exporters of Swiss watches branded with their names. I believe many of their watches were made by Revue Thommen who made quality watch movements.
Approximate dimensions: diameter 5.7cm, weight 126.5 grams.
There are surface marks associated with normal use and age.
There is a slight dent on the edge of the back of the case. Please see photos.
The white dial is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
Screw front and back base metal Swiss case. Take care not to cross thread when replacing.
The movement has been serviced and is working well. You can expect timekeeping to be within 5 minutes per day which is considered good for watches of this age.
Pull winder one click and turn to set hands.
A good example of a watch used on the railways.
