This is a great first flight cover for the first flight for FAM 5, FAM 5-1 from Miami to the Canal Zone in early February 1929. Originating in Batavia NY on February 1, 1929, with 30c postage, including a US C1 6c airmail stamp, it received a black rubberstamp cachet at center in MIami, and was backstamped upon receipt in Cristobal, CZ on February 6th, and with a TRANSITO marking at Panama RP the next day. As it was addressed to David, Panama, it went by surface mail (and slow boat) to David, where it was backstamped on February 18th (I believe) and later on March 1st. Unusual destination for FAM 5-1 covers. It was addressed to the American Consul there, who likely mailed it back to the sender, J. Holly Elm, early collector whose name is on many covers from the period.  Opened at left and some edge wear, F/VF and pretty clean, a great addition to a Canal Zone postal history or US first flight collection.

Please add $1.50 postage within the US; international postage $2. We combine shipping, so buy some other of our items!
