U2 Los Angeles 2nd Night 4.13.1992 Complete Mike Millard Master Edition #J62301

Description

Condition: New

The Mike Millard original master discovery project—thought to have concluded in 2024—has made a surprise comeback! The first release in this new wave is a newly unearthed recording from U2’s "Zoo TV Tour." This title captures the Los Angeles concert from April 13, 1992 (the second night), featuring a superb audience recording by the legendary taper Millard. The "Zoo TV Tour" era was a prolific period for Millard’s masterpieces; titles like *Los Angeles 1992 1st Night* and *San Diego April 1992* have already become essential classics. So, where does this new release fit into the picture? Let’s start by looking at the tour schedule from that time: Feb 29–Apr 23, 1992: North America #1 (32 shows) ← ★Here★; May 7–Jun 19: Europe #1 (25 shows) ← *Rotterdam 1992*; Aug 7–Nov 25: North America #2 (47 shows) ← *Washington 1992*; May 9–Aug 28, 1993: Europe #2 (43 shows) ← *Goffertpark 1993*; Nov 12–Dec 4: Oceania (8 shows) ← *Official Video*; Dec 9 & 10: Japan (2 shows). That was U2’s schedule for 1992 and 1993. The Los Angeles show featured here was part of the initial "North America #1" leg. In fact, Millard’s recordings are concentrated heavily in this "North America #1" period. Let’s zoom in on the dates to see how these various releases relate to one another. "North America #1" Details: Feb 29–Apr 10 (24 shows) * Apr 12: *LOS ANGELES 1992 1ST NIGHT* * Apr 13: Los Angeles Show (Day 2) ← ★This Release★ * Apr 15: *SAN DIEGO APRIL 1992* * Apr 17–23 (5 shows). A "sister trilogy" recorded by the legendary taper Millard. As you can see, Millard undertook a series of recordings over three days: April 12, 13, and 15. While the first and third days were unearthed in 2020 and 2021, the middle show—the second night in Los Angeles—had been overlooked (it appears to have been mistaken for the first-night recording). After a long slumber, this hidden recording was finally discovered in 2026, fitting the final piece into the puzzle. True to the work of a legendary taper, this release perfectly captures the atmosphere of the event. Naturally, sharing the same venue and taper, it is fitting to call this a sister release to the acclaimed *LOS ANGELES 1992 1ST NIGHT* from the previous day. During this period, Millard was experimenting with DAT recording; the directness of the sound—with its solid core and sharply defined contours—is nothing short of impressive, and the signature Millard clarity and transparent atmosphere are exceptional. While it is true that the resolution of the deep bass falls slightly short of its sister releases, that is only when measured against the pinnacle standards of the "Millard Trilogy." [A full show bridging the sister masterpieces] This Millard DAT recording captures a full show that differs subtly from the other two in the trilogy. Let’s review the setlist while comparing it to the sister releases. *Achtung Baby* and others (10 tracks): Zoo Station / The Fly / Even Better Than The Real Thing / Mysterious Ways / One / Until The End Of The World / Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses / Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World / Ultraviolet (Light My Way) (*) / Love Is Blindness. Others (11 tracks): *The Unforgettable Fire*: Bad / Pride (In The Name Of Love); *The Joshua Tree*: Bullet The Blue Sky / Running To Stand Still / Where The Streets Have No Name / I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / With Or Without You; *Rattle and Hum*: Angel Of Harlem / Desire (*); Covers: Dancing Queen (★: ABBA) / Satellite Of Love (Lou Reed). Note: Tracks marked "★" were missing from the companion release *LOS ANGELES 1992 1ST NIGHT*, and tracks marked "*" were missing from *SAN DIEGO APRIL 1992*. What makes this release notable is the inclusion of songs that were absent from both the opening night (the previous day) and the San Diego show (three days later). It features the ABBA cover "Dancing Queen"—which wasn't played on the first night—as well as "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)" and "Desire," neither of which appeared in San Diego. In short, by collecting this trilogy, you can experience the evolution of the setlist through the legendary Millard sound. This marks the unexpected revival of the Millard master tape discovery project, which was thought to have concluded in 2024. The final piece has now fallen into place between the previously released, acclaimed recordings of the opening night and the San Diego show, completing Millard's "ZOO TV Tour" trilogy. This is a superb audience recording of the Los Angeles concert from April 13, 1992 (the second night). Captured by the master taper Mike Millard, this previously unreleased recording serves as the middle chapter of a trilogy alongside the acclaimed titles *LOS ANGELES 1992 1ST NIGHT* and *SAN DIEGO APRIL 1992*. Featuring a superb "taper" sound—characterized by clear, upfront high frequencies and a palpable sense of atmosphere—this recording offers a *Zoo TV* show experience that is distinct from its sister recordings from the same tour leg (Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA, USA; April 13, 1992). Disc 1 (47:47): 1. Zoo Station 2. The Fly 3. Even Better Than The Real Thing 4. Mysterious Ways 5. One 6. Until the End of the World 7. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses 8. Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World 9. Angel of Harlem 10. Dancing Queen. Disc 2 (60:14): 1. Satellite Of Love 2. Bad > All I Want Is You 3. Bullet the Blue Sky 4. Running To Stand Still 5. Where the Streets Have No Name 6. Pride (In the Name of Love) 7. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For 8. Desire 9. Ultraviolet (Light My Way) 10. With or Without You / Shine Like Stars (snippet) 11. Love Is Blindness.
