A VINTAGE PRIMITIVE 2lb JAMES KEILLER & SONS, DUNDEE & LONDON, TALLER SHAPE, IRON STONE, MARMALADE POT or JAR dating from the early c1900s period which has been found buried in an Edwardian rubbish tip alongside several other pots and bottles several months ago. The Malling made pot measures 13.5cm high by just over 9.5cm in diameter across the lip edge, it is in GOOD FAIR CONDITION being clean with no chips or flakes. There is no residue left inside either. There is a fine hairline on the rear of the pot which is perfectly stable and has been present for many years probably caused by the weight of tons of rubbish above. The pot is rock solid when rapped hard with the knuckles. There is extensive glaze crackling and marking caused by over 100 years of prolonged burial with potters and kiln blow faults plus age related usage wear on the base edge underneath which is only to be expected of these mass produced throwaway pots of the time. Every one of these pots are unique being hand made with very minor faults and flaws. I am quite happy to combine purchases for buyers to help save money on postage and shipping costs.
