The Millard master issue from the LA Forum on July 11th and 12th has caused unexpected confusion, but on the other hand, it has also had an unexpected blessing in disguise. The master from the 11th, which was mistakenly released for the reasons mentioned above, surprisingly has better sound quality than the version released in 2021, and is also released in a more natural state. The limited-press CD "L.A. FORUM 1975 3RD NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES," which was released after the previous release, has long been sold out, and many fans have been asking for a re-release of the Millard recordings from the 1975 LA Forum. As a result, it has become a perfect opportunity to re-release the recordings, so it is indeed a blessing in disguise. Moreover, this time "GRAF ZEPPELIN" will be in charge of supervising the sound source, making it possible to release an even better version than the previous one in every sense. When it was released in 2021, the clear stereo sound, a completely different level from the downgraded mono versions of past items like VGP's "THE LOST MILLARD MASTERS" and EV's "WHORES, COCAINE AND A BOTTLE OF JACK," delighted fans worldwide, but this even more natural version is fantastic. Moreover, the previous version had a peculiar texture in the gaps between songs, similar to what you hear in the dadgad remaster. This makes it all the more understandable why there is such a difference in sound quality this time around. As is well known, Millard got fed up with the surrounding noise on this day and stopped recording after "Happy," and from there onwards, JEMS has once again switched to the "Ed F" recording, but the editing in the middle of the song is brilliant. It switches so naturally that you wouldn't notice it at first listen. However, even the savior "Ed F" unfortunately ends the recording just as "Sympathy For The Devil" is nearing its end. Because of this, the previous release didn't include the entire song (or even the beginning), but this time, thanks to the meticulous adjustments made by "GRAF ZEPPELIN" using the "recorder 3" mentioned earlier, a complete recording has finally been achieved. Not only in terms of sound quality, but also in terms of content, this release surpasses the previous "L.A. FORUM 1975 3RD NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES". And for this release, "GRAF ZEPPELIN" has given it a new title, "LA FRIDAY". This is because this day is indeed the real Friday show. However, in the collector's world and in the official release from 10 years ago, the same title was repeatedly given to the July 13th recording. The root cause of the misunderstanding was the large "LA FRIDAY" lettering on the slick of "1975 NERVOUS BREAKDOWN," the final LP in VICKI VINYL's LP trilogy that first released the show on the 13th, which led to the misconception that the 13th was a Friday. However, Andrea of VICKI VINYL simply reused a photo of the Stones from a two-page spread in Rolling Stone magazine that featured a report on the LA Forum concert, and the tagline "LA Friday Night" was just a coincidence. However, the word "Night" was removed from the tagline. Furthermore, Billy Preston, who was pictured between Ronnie and Charlie in the original photo, was also neatly removed—a design technique that would make even modern eraser magic blush. That's why "LA FRIDAY" is the appropriate title for this release, and it was inevitable that the cover would feature the image from that time. Of course, Billy Preston is still there and hasn't been erased (laughs). This is how the upgrade of the 11th's Millard Master came about at such an unexpected time. Both the sound quality and content have been perfected by "GRAF ZEPPELIN," and even the title has been reborn for this long-awaited re-release. An unexpected turn of events has given rise to a new masterpiece from the Millard master! This recording, which was released by JEMS as the Millard recording from the 12th, is actually the 11th performance that had already been released, but the sound itself is actually better than the previously released version. (Although this is probably due to the difference in the amount of software processing done by JEMS before release...) In the previous 11th Millard version, there were occasional artificial sounds between songs that sounded like a drainpipe, reminiscent of the dadgad remaster, which was quite bothersome for some people. In this version, such problems are almost entirely absent, and you can enjoy the Millard sound (the Millard itself is about 51 minutes long) without any discomfort from beginning to end. From the middle of the album onward, Millard's part is not included, so the gaps are filled with another audio source (commonly known as "Ed F") that JEMS released around the same time as the previous July 11th version, and the beginning and ending of Sympathy, which couldn't be fully covered by the Ed F source, are further supplemented with a third audio source. There are differences in sound quality when connecting the tracks, but this is the longest recording currently available and the best possible! Addendum: This album's July 11th, 1975 (3rd Night) was a real Friday. One of the three separate LP titles released by IMP during the LP era, which mainly featured July 13th, has a photo from a Rolling Stone magazine article from that time that has been processed and quoted in a rather complicated way on the cover. On this LP cover, the word "NIGHT" and Billy Preston have been completely removed from the photo in the magazine article, and it now says "L.A. FRIDAY". In 2012, the "13th performance" was streamed on the Stones Archive under the title "L.A. FRINDAY (LIVE 1975)". However, the subsequent physical release was quietly retitled "L.A. FORUM (LIVE IN 1975)". Another little anecdote: In a scene from the 1976 film "The Bad News Bears," at 3:10, a boy on a motorcycle says "8 O'clock Friday Night" and drives away. 11-year-old Tatum O'Neal says, "I lost the game, so I gotta go to the Rolling Stones concert with the creep." Coach Walter Matthau replies, "What? That's ridiculous! An 11-year-old girl going to the Rolling Stones..."
