A very unusual pair of antique black glass vases with white & gold enamelling depicting a trellis with flowers & leaves trailing through. There is a border made from tiny white enamel dots around each side. There is an oriental feel to the design, and I wonder if they could be described as aesthetic movement. The glass is thick, and they are heavy. They each have four glass bun feet. There are some condition issues, but nothing horrendous. The gilding on the rims is very rubbed, as is that on the feet. One foot has been replaced, leaving a crack and tiny chips in the body of the vase at the base, see photos. Both vases have edge nibbles and flea bites, and they both have a small, smooth shallow bruise to the body near the base, see last photo. None of this detracts much from the way the vases display, they are very striking and interesting, and I would love to know their origin.

Each vase measures 13.2cm tall and 5cm x 5cm across the top, 6.5cm x 6.5cm across the base.

Each one weighs 450g.
