These models were produced under strict wartime contracts by makers like Comet Metal Products (Authenticast) or South Salem Studios to serve as tactical identification "spotter" training aids for military personnel.

Note: The vintage cardboard box marked "Caswell-Massey" is included and has been used over the decades as a protective storage container for this miniature warship.
