Ferenc Fricsay’s first “Carmen” recording: Fresh in its tempi, ransparent in its sound, evocative in its spatial effects, with distinct contracts in the choice of soloists. This recording, which was made in 1951 for the RIAS Berlin, also demonstrates the possibilities of the monaural sound technology of the time. Released by Audite in 2007.
