An antique English, solid 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) stickpin; set with a rounded panel (probably gold), beautifully hand painted in glazed enamels to depict a cunning fox's head. Signed to the back 'W.B. Ford, 1879'. The pin itself is typically lower carat.
Both extremely wearable and collectable! CONDITION: All original and very good. Slight signs of wear, some scratches to enamel commensurate with age & use, some loss to bezel, old repairs to back, please see pics. Could use a light clean. DATE/MARKS: Around 1879. Not marked. DIMENSIONS: Just under 2 ¾ inches long overall, head 25 x 21 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter. WEIGHT: Approx. 5.5 grams.
