Offered here is a 1942-P Mercury Dime identified as a “railroad rim” error, housed in a handwritten vintage 2x2 holder. The term refers to an abnormal raised rim formation that can resemble miniature rails tracking around portions of the coin’s edge, generally associated with collar die irregularities or striking-pressure issues during production.
