This is a full-length NuBus video card marked RasterOps Color Board 108 Plus 256K, made in the U.S.A. The card has a standard Macintosh DA-15 video connector and onboard DIP switches for resolution configuration.
I tested this card in a Macintosh IIci. The card is detected by the system and displays video. During startup, the RasterOps splash screen appears in color. However, once the system finishes booting, the Macintosh desktop displays in grayscale even when the Monitors control panel is set to Colors / 256 colors. Interestingly, screenshots taken from the system show color correctly, even though the actual monitor output appears grayscale.
Important note: although the PCB is marked RasterOps Color Board 108 Plus 256K, the installed ROM is labeled 434GS V1.01, and TattleTech identifies the card as RasterOps ClearVue/GS. RasterOps compatibility information lists 434 / CY GS as a grayscale model, while the 108+ is listed separately as an 8-bit color model. I have also found other reports of cards with the same basic ColorBoard 108 Plus 256K board behaving or identifying as ClearVue/GS, so this may be an original RasterOps factory configuration using the same PCB, rather than a later ROM swap.
Because of this behavior, I am selling the card as tested but with a noted grayscale-output behavior / possible ClearVue GS configuration. I am not sure whether this can be changed by using different ROMs, software/driver configuration, DIP switch settings, monitor sense/adapter behavior, or another setup change. Please purchase only if you are comfortable troubleshooting vintage RasterOps NuBus video hardware.
Published information for the RasterOps ColorBoard 108+ lists it as an unaccelerated 8-bit color NuBus card supporting:
However, because this card identifies as RasterOps ClearVue/GS in TattleTech and outputs the Mac desktop in grayscale in my testing, buyers should not assume normal 8-bit color desktop output without further troubleshooting.
Resolution is set using the DIP switches on the card. Reported switch settings include:
Please note that this is vintage specialist hardware. Compatibility may depend on the Macintosh model, system software version, RasterOps software/control panel, monitor, adapter, sense codes, and DIP switch settings. Proper setup and troubleshooting are the buyer’s responsibility.
Condition is used. The PCB is clean overall, with normal signs of age and handling. The metal bracket has some age-related discoloration/corrosion. Please review all photos carefully for the exact board revision, ROM label, connector, components, and cosmetic condition.
Best suited for collectors, restorers, or users familiar with vintage Macintosh NuBus video hardware who are comfortable troubleshooting older RasterOps cards.
