c1900 Florentine Gilt Wood Framed Intricate Needlepoint-Pastoral Village 17x12

This listing is for a strikingly attractive embroidered work of art in a Florentine Wood Gilt Frame with a Glass Front.    My expertise is not in textiles, and after much research and inquiries have concluded with very little results.    I believe this could be of European origin, (English Countryside Manor) and was told it most likely dates to circa 1900.

Research concludes that the embroidered art is a very small stitch needlepoint with the areas of flowers on the trees and plants are a 'petit point' stitch.   The yarns are of unknown composition, possibly wool or silk.     As witnessed in the images, the needlepoint is worked through a very fine mesh canvas with stamped numerals on the back being:  5333 and 168.   In pencil is the numerals 3063 on the cardboard backing.

The paper on the rear is indication of the age as is the hardware rings and hanging wire.    The paper is beginning to dry rot.   I applied some tape to keep it from tearing off.

The timeless charm of this piece exudes a high quality craftmanship depicting a pastoral village scene in a muted tone with a perfectly complimentary Florentine Gold wooden frame.    A beautiful wall art piece.

Size:   16-7/8" Wide x 11-7/8" HIgh x 3/4" Thick

Condition:  Exceptional antique condition.   Very clean and well-kept, no age distinctive smell of any kind.    Just the rear paper tearing from age.   Unknown Origin, Uncertain Age.

Net Wt.  2 lbs. 3 oz.
