Fun Facts: Bass Lake became a hub for early powerboat racing and water skiing in the 1950s and 60s. The lake's shallow basin meant that there were few hidden "deep spots," but it also required boaters to be extremely careful with their outboard motors near the shoreline. Many of the docks seen in these vintage cards were private, belonging to the numerous resorts and hotels that once lined the 10-mile perimeter of the lake
