An original and rare officer's dress belt buckle of the Dragoons heavy cavalry. 1837-1855 pattern.

A three-piece buckle. 97 mm width inclusive of belt loops. Bronze plate with gilt finish. Pebbled background. Separately applied "VR" cypher in silver. One belt loop brazed in place, the other loose for closure. Very good condition.
