Lovely 0.925 Sterling Silver coin
A little tarnish to the rim of the coin
The 1980 proof crown is a collector's version of the standard 25p commemorative coin. Unlike the standard cupro-nickel versions found in circulation, the silver proof is struck in .925 sterling silver and features a mirror-like finish with frosted details.
Design: The reverse, designed by Richard Guyatt, shows a portrait of the Queen Mother surrounded by a radial pattern of lions and bows—a pun on her maiden name, Bowes-Lyon. The obverse features the second official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
