You are looking at a unique part of MTB history rebuilt.

GT Zaskar "2026 Tribute" mountain bike built by VINTAGE BIKER. End of last year a bold decision was made: build 26 tributes inspired by the iconic 90s GT Zaskar triple triangle models that dominated cross country racing in the golden era of MTB.

This specimen is number 1 of 26 Zaskar Tributes to be build. No expense was spared in this first of series. Check the parts list below for all details, but here some highlights:

The base is a 1995 Zaskar 16 inch ball burnished aluminum 6061 frame. The one with the round down tube (the og. if you're asking me). The frame underwent a professional polish to achieve that mirror look. Custom made decals were applied. Don't expect a battle scar free frame, but all in all this one has stood the test of over 3 decades time pretty well.

A yellow 1996 RockShox Judy SL fork is installed, also in mint condition. Optical, but also internal: the eroded elastomers were replaced by new SRP Steed springs for a better suspension experience ;) Also, some parts are replaced by aftermarket repro parts such as the arch and the adjuster knobs (alu instead of plastic).

Another highlight -literally- of this bike is the polished Shimano XTR M950 crankset with fresh lasered logos, equipped with a new Garbaruk Direct Mount chainring, which is especially redesigned for this vintage M950 series.

So far the "used" parts... the rest of the bike is built up with only NEW or NOS (New Old Stock) components: most hardware (stem, seat post, brakes, are new remakes of iconic MTB parts from the 90s, beautifully produced by ImprovePart, expert in 90s MTB part reworks. Ringlé Zooka/Moby, Onza H2O, who doesn't remember these iconic brands?

Drivetrain is full NOS Shimano Deore XT M77x 9 speed, and although maybe not very noticeable at first sight, major highlight of this build is the NOS first generation ultralight Mavic CrossMax wheel set! Combined with massive 2.4" Schwalbe Nobby Nics these do not even look like tiny 26" wheels right?

All in all, you are looking at a one-off MTB here, carefully built inspired by 90s heritage, with a modern twist (respectfully). As said, no expenses were spared building this unique part of history. Imagine: your 90s MTB but riding (better) like new...
