"Robert's art is a complex mixture of all his pop culture influences distilled into a simple, single code."  ― Dimitri Levas, Artistic Director, The Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, NYC

About Robert Loughlin

Robert Loughlin is considered by many as one of the most important "pickers" of our time.  For over thirty years, Robert Loughlin has been involved in culturally significant markets ― San Francisco, Miami, New York City ― selling to the most exclusive of clients.  A list that is a "Who's Who" of the art and fashion world ― Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Isabell and Jean-Michel Basquiat to name a few.  Now, Robert is considered an expert in 20th Century and Industrial Design.

But, there is a lot more to Robert's story.  In addition to being a pioneer of the Mid-Century design movement, Robert has also been a prolific and accomplished artist.  Loughlin draws on his expertise in modern aesthetics to deliver powerful, yet simple pop statements.  From exhibiting in the Fun Gallery in the early 80s to his paintings being collected by New York's and Hollywood's biggest names, Robert and his signature "brute" image have cemented a place in history as cultural icons.

The New Icon of Modern: Robert Loughlin provides a personal view of Robert Loughlin through an introduction by Carlo McCormick along with a candid artist's interview and biography.  In the interview, Robert discusses how he became an artist, his work and how he has always lived life "on the fringe."  Robert's artwork is prominently featured throughout the book.
