Balancing helps with vibration which prevents premature bearing failures in the spindle. Balancing was performed on a machine to meet the G2.5 specification for 30K rpm. Precision decreases runout which causes chip thickness to vary over the tool rotation and therefore the tool experiences uneven forces during each cutting flute period. This will force a reduction in feedrate and tool life because one flute is doing more work.
