New York Islanders vs. Buffalo Sabres – April 4, 2015
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, New York • Section 223, Row B, Seat 12 • Price: $89.00 • Home Game 40
A ticket from the Islanders' final regular season at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, featuring a stunning tribute to one of the most remarkable individual records in NHL history: Mike Bossy's 50 goals in 50 games on January 24, 1981. The full-color ticket art shows Bossy in full stride, with the text commemorating the night he became just the second player ever to achieve the feat — scoring twice late in a game against Quebec to match Rocket Richard's legendary mark.
Mike Bossy & the 50-in-50 Record
On January 24, 1981, Mike Bossy trailed 50 goals in 50 games with time running out against the Quebec Nordiques. He scored twice in the final 4:23 of the game to reach the milestone — joining Maurice "Rocket" Richard (1944-45) as the only players in NHL history to accomplish the feat at that point. Bossy's achievement electrified the hockey world. He would go on to score 68 goals that season and win the second of four consecutive Stanley Cup championships with the Islanders dynasty. Bossy retired in 1987 with 573 career goals — the highest goals-per-game ratio in NHL history. He passed away in 2022, making this tribute ticket all the more poignant.
The Final Season at Nassau Coliseum
This is Home Game 40 of the 2014–15 season — the Islanders' last full year at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum before moving to Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The previous game in this same seat (Home Game 41) featured the Bobby Nystrom 1980 Stanley Cup tribute. Together, these tickets form a beautiful two-game tribute set honoring the Islanders' dynasty era legends in the farewell season at "The Barn."
