Here's a wonderful natural ammonite fossil — an ancient cephalopod relative of today's nautilus — preserved in its original matrix rock. The specimen features striking radial ribbing and a classic tightly coiled spiral form, with a rich dark patina and surface tubercles that give it excellent character and visual appeal. The interior calyx (cup) is also exposed, showing the fossil from two distinct perspectives in a single piece.
